Ash Wednesday Worship
Wednesday, February 26, 2020
7:00 PM

Service of Holy Communion with the Imposition of Ashes.

Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, the forty days before Easter. This is the traditional period of the Church year that emphasizes repentance, fasting, prayer and works of love. This service begins our Lenten journey together with The Lord’s Supper and receiving the mark of ashes as a sign of repentance and returning to God with all our heart.

Share with us your experiences, impressions and memories of our beloved St. John's Lutheran Church of Elma in anticipation of our 150th  anniversary of the congregation's founding, which we will observe in 2020!

During 2020, we will celebrate the birth of our congregation in 1870. Details of the celebration will be forthcoming. For now we want to gather your thoughts—in writing—of you and your family's involvement in the life of our congregation over the years. We will share them in the newsletter and in other formats.

Please send them by mail to the church office, or via email to stjohnselma@gmail.com.

“Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.”
-Joel 1:3

2020 will be a year of celebration culminating with a All Saints Day, Sunday. November 1, in recognition of 150 years of ministry here in Elma and beyond . . .

 We need your input!
