March 1, 2017 7:00 pm Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes Please begin your Lenten journey with Ash Wednesday worship. A brand new devotional book based upon Martin Luther’s Small Catechism will be given out at this service. With it you can spend a few minutes each day in Lenten preparation and prayer in the spirit of both Luther and several of today’s Christian writers. October 31, 2017 will mark the 500th anniversary of the start of the Protestant Reformation. The beginning of the Reformation is commonly dated to the posting of Martin Luther’s 95 Theses on the church door at Wittenberg, Germany, on the Eve of All Saints, October 31st, 1517. We remember this event every year on Reformation Sunday (on our calendar, the last Sunday in October), but this year’s celebration is a special “quincentennial” commemoration.
Pastor Rick will note this anniversary with a series of sermons on the last Sunday of each month this year. To help this process, please direct any questions you may have about the Reformation or Martin Luther to him so he may address them in the sermons. Think of it as “Everything you always wanted to know about the Reformation but just haven’t yet asked.” Questions can be placed in the offering plate, in Pastor Rick’s mail slot in the office or on his desk. It is important to call the church office under the following circumstances. Please note that Pastor Rick may be called at any time for pastoral care emergencies and immediate needs. These are the situations in which you should call:
1. In the event of hospitalization or placement in another health care facility. Hospitals and other institutions do NOT notify pastors and church offices. If your loved one is admitted, the pastor will not know unless you call. Please call Pastor Rick directly if the situation is serious. 2. In emergency situations of injury or illness, even if there is no hospital admission. People are often sent home under difficult circumstances your Pastor should know about. 3. In times of personal crisis or struggle in which you may benefit from direct pastoral care. 4. When in need of pastoral services such as baptism, wedding, home communion, funeral or memorial service. Come join us for worship on Christmas Eve! We have two services:
5:00 pm Family Service with Carols, Candlelight, and Communion 10:30 pm Carols, Candlelight and Communion We will also have ONE service on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25th at 9:30 a ell, it's that time of year again!
